The museum has four wings — archaeology, fish, insects and flora — and each is divided into sets. Completing a whole set is what pays out, so a set with one piece missing is worth nothing yet.
Donating never consumes something you need elsewhere in a way you cannot recover: everything donatable can be found again. But a first catch is easy to sell by reflex, so it is worth checking a set before shipping anything new.
The Archaeology wing fills from dig sites, and where you dig decides what you can find: every outdoor area draws from the common finds plus one set of its own, and each mine biome draws from its own set plus the shared mine finds. Fish traps, dive spots, the ritual altar and Mist Spots each yield a set nothing else does. One set is invisible until you take a perk — Out of Place Artifacts only ever drop once Well Placed is bought, which is why five pieces can look unobtainable for a whole playthrough. A dig site on your own farm likewise appears only with Former Farmers. Each artifact's page names the places it comes from and the perk it needs, if any.
Each wing has its own page: every set it holds, every piece in it, and the reward ladder it pays as you finish sets. Nothing here is recorded or needs updating — it is a reference to check against your game.
Each piece links to its item page, which says where it comes from — useful when a set is one obscure artifact short.
