Marriage, weddings, and having children

The full romance endgame in 1.0: forging the ring, proposing, planning the wedding, and the optional family route.

The short answer

At ten hearts with a dating partner, the engagement ring recipe arrives, and the ring is forged at a blacksmithing level-30 forge from a dragon-forged core, diamonds, mistril ingots and gold ingots. Proposing leads to a customizable wedding, and after marriage the Mystical Feather item opens the optional child discussion.

Ten hearts: getting the ring

The proposal is the 10-heart event, and it is gated by the Engagement Ring. The recipe arrives through a cutscene — Elsie delivers it the morning after you reach heart 10 with a partner you are dating. Then the ring is forged, not bought:

IngredientCount
Dragon-forged core1
Diamond2
Mistril Ingot4
Gold Ingot4

The recipe needs blacksmithing level 30 and the forge — so reaching ten hearts is only half the work; the other half is the crafting progression. The essence and forge guide explains how the dragon-forged materials are made.

Proposing consumes the ring. A useful detail from the 1.0 patch notes: 10-heart events can be retriggered with the ring until you choose to propose, so you can see every partner’s event and collect all the special items before committing.

The wedding

The wedding is one of the game’s event dates, with its own keepsake photo. In the days before it, wedding planning dialogue lets you customize:

  • The flower color
  • The cake flavor
  • The meal served at the reception

The wedding day itself is an event — the calendar page shows when it is scheduled, and the romance page tracks the wedding photo in the collectible set.

Children: the optional family

Children are a 1.0 feature and entirely optional. After the wedding, the Mystical Feather item becomes available through a cutscene in the weeks following the marriage, and it triggers the family planning discussion for players who want a child.

There are 12 possible child names — the child system gives you a set of names to choose from when the family discussion happens. The romance page lists them, and the marriage guide on the update page (what’s new in 1.0) covers what changed in the release.

Practical notes

  • The ring is the bottleneck, not the hearts. Start the forge and mistril-ingot pipeline long before you reach ten hearts with someone, or you will wait at the finish line.
  • The 10-heart events are worth seeing. The retrigger mechanic means you can shop around before committing — each partner’s event grants a unique special item.
  • Marriage changes nothing about the farm routine. The spouse has their own schedule, but the daily loop of crops, animals and requests is unchanged.
  • Children are a long-term project. The Mystical Feather arrives weeks after the wedding, so plan the family route as a post-wedding goal rather than part of the wedding itself.
