Where every recipe in the game comes from
The four ways recipes arrive — and why the request board and museum are the ones to chase.
The short answer
Recipes arrive from four places: request-board errands that reward a recipe scroll, museum set completions that grant a crafting scroll, Tali and Stillwell\u2019s score-based challenges, and story quests. The request board alone teaches dozens of cooking recipes, one per errand that asks for the dish\u2019s key ingredient.
The four recipe sources
| Source | What it teaches | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Request board errands | Cooking recipes (recipe scrolls) | one per eligible errand |
| Museum set rewards | Furniture and crafts (crafting scrolls) | per completed set |
| Tali’s cooking challenges | Cooking recipes | per challenge |
| Stillwell’s monster challenges | Crafting recipes | per challenge |
| Story quests | Specific recipes and scrolls | one-time |
Most recipes are learned, not bought — there is no recipe shop that sells everything. The cooking page shows every dish with its recipe and skill level, and the recipe browser lets you check which dishes you are missing.
The request board is the big one
The most reliable source is the request board. Many fetch errands reward a recipe scroll for the dish built around the item you delivered — bring Josephine a baked potato and learn loaded baked potato, bring berries and learn berry jam. The request board guide covers the daily rhythm.
This creates a practical rule: do errands you have not seen before. Each new errand is a chance at a recipe you do not own yet, and the board draws from the whole pool over time.
Museum rewards teach furniture
Completing a museum set pays a reward that often includes a crafting scroll — the furniture-tier rewards always pair the piece with its recipe, so finishing a set unlocks the recipe permanently (museum guide). This is the main way to learn the decorative furniture and the apiary/terrarium crafts.
Challenges: the score-gated recipes
Tali’s cooking challenges and Stillwell’s monster-hunting challenges reward recipes based on your score band. They are the only source of some high-end dishes, and because they run on schedules, checking for an active challenge is worth adding to the routine (request board guide).
Story quests and the rest
Story quests hand out specific recipes and scrolls as one-time rewards — the mill, the refinery, and the endgame crafts all arrive this way, often paired with the building that uses them. The farming rules and the mines guide both note where key crafting unlocks sit in the story.
Tracking what you are missing
The recipe browser on the cooking page sorts every dish and marks the ones you have not learned. For crafts and furniture, the item database tags each recipe’s source. A simple habit: after each request-board run, check the browser for newly unlocked dishes — it shows exactly which errand to chase next.
