The museum: wings, sets, and every reward
How the museum works, what the four wings hold, and the reward ladder that makes some donations worth far more than others.
The short answer
The museum has four wings: Archaeology, Fish, Flora and Insects. Together they hold 82 donation sets. Every completed set pays the next reward in that wing’s fixed sequence, so the first set you finish always earns the first-tier reward, regardless of which set it is.

Almost every set has exactly five items. The legendary fish set is the exception, with four fish. The museum overview links to each wing and shows the required items for every set. Use the gift finder and item database to locate missing pieces.
The reward ladder
Each wing has a tiered reward ladder. Completing any set unlocks the next tier in order:
- The first set you complete in a wing pays the wing’s first-tier reward.
- The second pays the second-tier reward.
- And so on, until the last set pays the wing’s final reward.
The first completed set always pays tier 1, regardless of which set it is. After collecting that reward, finish another set to reach the next tier. The museum pages list the exact ladder for each wing.
Rewards come in three kinds: items (treasure boxes), player outfits, and crafting scrolls. The furniture-tier rewards always pair the piece with its recipe scroll, so completing a set unlocks the recipe permanently rather than giving one copy.
Donating also earns renown
Every donation pays renown alongside the set reward: the item’s own value when it has one, or 5 renown otherwise. Across the whole museum, those donations contribute a meaningful share of the town rank track (renown guide).
The fastest completion order
Set difficulty varies. This order starts with the more predictable sources:
- Fish wing first. The fish page shows exactly where each fish is, and the spring sets fill quickly.
- Flora second. Crops and flowers come from seeds you are already growing; check the crop list against the museum sets before selling a season’s harvest.
- Insects third. Bugs are gated by season and hour windows, but the bugs guide lists every window, and the common ones fill the early sets quickly.
- Archaeology last. Dig spots are the slowest source, and the OOPART items need the Well Placed perk (foraging guide).
Completing the whole museum
Finishing every set in all four wings completes the museum story quest. It pays 20 renown, 10,000g and the Mini Museum Blueprint, a house item you can place on your farm. The 1.0 update page lists full museum completion among the release’s new content.
Keeping items for donation
Keep one of every item before selling duplicates. When a set is close to complete, the museum pages show the one or two fish, bugs or artifacts still missing. Check them before shipping a rare find, and add donations throughout the first year.
