The seal questline and every magic spell

The order of the seals, the items each one asks for, and the spell you get from every step deeper into the mines.

The short answer

The mines open in five stages, each behind a seal that asks for four specific items. Breaking the water, earth, fire and ruins seals also earns you a magic spell from Caldarus — Summon Rain, Growth and Dragon\u2019s Breath among them — and the final seal at floor 100 needs items forged at the Dragon Forge.

How the seals work

The mines are not a free climb. Each seal blocks the way deeper, and breaking it needs a story quest, a translation, and four offered items. The seals, in order:

SealItems to offer
WaterLantern Moth, Ruby, Stone Loach, Upper Mines Mushroom
EarthCoral Mantis, Sapphire, Archerfish, Jade Dulse
FireFaceted Rock Gem, Rockroot, Emerald, Sealing Scroll
RuinsBreath of Flame, Smoke Moth, Firesail Fish, Obsidian
Final (floor 100)Items forged at the Dragon Forge

Each seal is part of a story quest that starts by finding a tablet in the mines and showing it to Juniper or Eiland, who translates it. The quest board does not carry these — they arrive as the story progresses. The mines page shows which biome each of the offered items comes from.

The spells you earn along the way

Caldarus grants one spell per major step deeper, and the priestess grants two more near the end:

WhenSpellWhat it does
Reach floor 10Full RestoreRestores all stamina and health
Enter the Tide CavernsSummon RainWaters all crops; can also harden lava in the Lava Caves
Enter the Deep EarthGrowthFully grows crops in a 3×3 area
Enter the Lava CavesDragon's BreathShort stream of fire that clears objects and fights
Enter the Ancient RuinsVoid SightReveals void materials in the mines (passive)
Deeper Ancient RuinsSacred LightLights up a dark floor in the ruins for five minutes

The spells are more than combat tools. Dragon's Breath is how you reach the Deep Woods and the two secret caves, and Summon Rain is a free farm-watering day on demand — both are covered in the Summit guide and the farming rules.

The two hardest seals

The Ruins Seal is the biggest jump in difficulty. Before you can break it, the story sends you through two side quests:

  1. Creating the Void Mass — gather 5 each of Void Stone, Void Powder, Void Herb and Void Pearl for the cauldron in the Void Seal room. These come from the void materials that Void Sight reveals.
  2. Procuring the Sealing Scroll — a rare scroll that Balor can source, but he asks for 10 Silver Ingot, 10 Ruby, 10 Sapphire and 10 Emerald in return.

The Final Seal at floor 100 caps the whole mines story. It needs items crafted at the Dragon Forge, which is itself part of the questline — the forge only lights once the story asks you to (essence and the Dragon Forge).

Tips for the grind

  • Check the item pages before collecting. Each offered item has a specific biome or water; the item database says where each one comes from.
  • The sealing scroll is the gate. It is the only item with no shop or mine source — it comes from the Balor quest, so budget the ingots and gems early.
  • Void items only appear after Void Sight. Do not waste time hunting void materials before the spell; the mines simply will not show them (void endgame guide covers what comes after).
  • The floor 100 tablet also needs friendship. The Dragonsworn Tablet quest requires seeing both Juniper and Eiland’s 8-heart events, so the mines story and the romance system intersect near the end.
